Sign up first, then vote. If you vote first then click through the sign-up stuff your vote didn't actually get recorded as far as I can tell. I went that route then went back to the voting page for your t-shirt and noticed that my vote hadn't been cast yet even though that's what initiated the 'register user account' process.
So .. register and login first, then vote.
